![]() With decades of experience in the affordable housing industry, SP Investment Fund oversees a wide portfolio of multi-family investments focused on affordable housing. Since 2014, SP Investment Fund has also been investing in emerging technology companies such as Allotrope Medical who recently received FDA approval of its StimSite surgery technology. Allotrope Medical is a company whose goal is to enhance the safety and efficiency of pelvic surgeries. Allotrope Medical developed StimSite, a technology that makes ureter identification easier, an important aspect of pelvic surgeries. There are more than three million surgeries every year that require ureter identification, and without accurately locating the ureter it can be injured and endanger the life of the patient. The technology was developed to assist obstetricians, gynecologists, and colorectal surgeons in their procedures. StimSite uses electrical stimulation to identify and trigger ureter movements. StimSite tests the ureter muscle’s excitability, and it is compatible with robot platforms and laparoscopic and standard surgical instruments. StimSite functions on batteries and is held in the hand. via WordPress https://ift.tt/2WsZZvv

![]() A Los Angeles-based company, SP Investment Fund invests in and renovates affordable housing apartment communities. SP Investment Fund also invests in other companies that benefit society, such as HepaTx. HepaTx is a therapy for patients with liver disease. The therapy uses regenerative technologies based on stem cells and can be an alternative to transplants, which are the last resort in case of late-stage liver disease. Millions of Americans suffer every year from liver failure, and a study showcases that about one out of 33 patients gets a liver transplant that saves their life, with many more failing to get a transplant or even to make the waiting list. This treatment’s goal is to replace the dead cells of the liver with hepatocytes that can restore the liver’s capacity to regenerate. The stem cells of the treatment are obtained from the fat tissue of normal donors. The stem cells are then isolated from the fat tissue with the use of collagenase and separated from adipocytes. Stem cells are used for the creation of hepatocytes that are then infused into the liver. via WordPress https://ift.tt/3Bm0ozJ |
